I am Loving Kindness
A vow in verse—to respond to the world not with reaction, but with intention
This one came from stillness. Not silence, exactly, but the stillness underneath it.
It’s easy to match pain with pain, fear with fear, anger with anger.
But what happens when we refuse to mirror the harm?
This poem is a reminder, to myself as much as anyone else, that we can choose to be something else.
We can be Loving Kindness.
I am Loving Kindness By steven Smith If towards me you are dispassionate, I will show compassion. If towards me you show hatred, I will show love. If towards me you are unkind, I will show kindness. If towards me you show violence, I will show peace. If towards me you act as an enemy, I will be a friend. If towards me you show hopelessness, I will show hope. If towards me you show pain, I will attempt to ease it. And if towards me you show sadness, I will be bliss. For to all, I will attempt to be Loving Kindness.
If this piece brought you a moment of stillness or a shift in perspective, I’m grateful.
The world doesn’t need more noise, it needs presence.
May we all choose to meet this life with Loving Kindness, even when it’s hard.
Stay entangled, my friends.
