Yes! This is how I strive to relate to people who don’t think or believe exactly like me: an open conversation where I don’t feel threatening, but curious.
I always love when you frame modern issues with a look back to our beginnings and how society began. ❤️
That spirit of curiosity over threat is exactly what I hope for in conversations like these. I think we stop learning the moment we begin treating every disagreement as a battle to win instead of an opportunity to better understand one another and ourselves.
And I’ve always found it helpful to look backward a little when discussing modern issues, not to excuse harmful systems, but to better understand how they formed in the first place. Human beings inherit so much from history without even realizing it. Sometimes seeing where something began helps us approach change with more clarity and less hatred.
I’ve been trying very consciously to approach subjects like this without turning them into battle lines. It feels like we’ve become very good at arguing past each other lately, and much less practiced at slowing down long enough to actually understand what people are trying to say beneath the emotion.
I don’t think we move forward through blame nearly as much as we do through honest reflection, careful listening, and a willingness to examine the systems we inherited without turning each other into enemies in the process.
I’m grateful the piece came across in that spirit. Truly. 🙏🏼
I would say patriarchy = misogyny. But that's just a definition. In practice it can wear many faces.

I am thoughtful, aren’t I? 🤔😉
Nicely argued. You avoid polemicizing and propose sensible ways forward.
Thank you, Tim. I appreciate that.
